Proquip Solutions is the authorised New Zealand distributor for AIT vegetable processing machines. AIT, based in Tudela, Spain, builds machines for cutting, sorting, washing, peeling and complete processing lines, and has specialised in broccoli and cauliflower floretting since 2003. Our AIT range includes a multi-product cutting machine for broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage (Mixta), an onion peeling machine (Onyx) and a strawberry processing line (Straberix). Our team in Wiri, Auckland, supplies and supports AIT machines in NZ.

The Mixta is a floretting and de-coring machine. It cuts broccoli and cauliflower into florets and de-cores cabbage, and it works with up to five products: broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, romanesco and iceberg. Machine vision and an AI algorithm measure each head and make a customised cut, and the machine recognises which product is entering and selects the right blades automatically. That means no pre-sorting by size or variety and no mechanical changes between products. AIT lists a productivity of 60 heads per minute for the Mixta 1 line.
The Onyx onion peeling machine removes onion skins in three stages. It slits the outer skin, makes a conical top and tail cut, then blows the skin off with localised air pressure. Adjustable, replaceable cutting blades help increase yield, and the machine is designed to reduce labour and operating costs. It is built to EHEDG hygienic design principles in AISI 304 stainless steel, and it handles different varieties and sizes of onion.
The Straberix is a strawberry leaf separator and calyx cutting machine. AIT says it is the first in the world to combine a unit dosing system with artificial vision to identify strawberry leaves and robotic systems to hold and cut the fruit. Water currents then separate the leaves from the strawberry body, which reduces labour and increases efficiency. It adjusts automatically to different strawberry sizes and shapes.
AIT builds complete processing lines that link each stage of vegetable preparation: feeding with bin tippers and minibunkers, cutting, sorting, washing, peeling and conveying. Lines are available for products including broccoli, cauliflower, romanesco, cabbage, lettuce, potato and strawberry. Tell us your product, hourly output and available space and we will scope the right line with AIT.
AIT builds machinery to order, so pricing depends on the machine, the line configuration and your product. Cost is usually the first question we are asked, so tell us your product, hourly output and budget and we will recommend options that fit. Finance options are available for new machinery to spread the cost.
