A doypack machine forms, fills and seals stand-up pouches, often with a zip closure. Stand-up pouches stand upright on the shelf, are resealable and use less material than rigid packs, which has made them popular in NZ retail for snacks, coffee, dried fruit, pet treats and powders. Velteko machines pack dry powders, granules, snacks, cereals, coffee, frozen vegetables, dairy powders, pet food, seeds, fertilisers and pharmaceutical products. Frozen vegetables are usually packed on a vertical form fill seal machine fed by a multihead weigher, which portions free-flowing frozen product quickly and accurately. The machine needs to keep pace with the freezer output so product doesn't start to thaw, and the film and seals need to stay strong at freezer temperatures. The dosing system depends on how your product flows. Auger fillers suit powders such as flour, milk powder and protein, multihead weighers suit snacks, confectionery and frozen foods, and volumetric cup fillers suit free-flowing granules such as rice, sugar and seeds. A case packer automatically places finished bags or pouches into shipping cartons at the end of the packaging line, ready for palletising. It removes repetitive hand packing, keeps up with the packaging machine's output and reduces the risk of strain injuries.
