Flexible medical bags are used for IV and infusion solutions such as sodium chloride, dextrose and glucose, as well as dialysis, drainage and blood transfusion bags. Bags can be single or double chamber, and can include ports, tubes and other filling accessories. Flexible bags are a lighter, safer alternative to glass or rigid plastic bottles, and can be sterilised after filling without adding air.
Medical instruments and accessories are usually packed in pouches or thermoformed trays and sealed with a breathable lid such as Tyvek, so the pack can be sterilised while keeping a sterile barrier. Sealing can be done with impulse, heat or rotary sealing machines, depending on the pack and volume. Thimonnier also makes sealing machines for medical instruments, accessories and thermoformed shells.

Thimonnier has worked in medical packaging for over 40 years. It developed the first flexible PVC medical bag in 1964, the first non-PVC IV bag making machine with B. Braun in 1998, and a form-fill-seal machine for infusion bags in 2013. This long track record is why its machines are used by pharmaceutical and medical manufacturers internationally.
Thimonnier medical machines are designed for the requirements of medical, paramedical and pharmaceutical production. Specific standards, materials and validation needs vary by product and market, so tell us what you produce and the standards you work to, and we'll confirm the right machine configuration with Thimonnier.
