KRONEN Conveyor FAQs

What is a food conveyor belt used for in vegetable processing?

In a vegetable or salad processing line, food conveyor belts move product between machines, such as from preparation to the cutter, from the cutter to the washer, and from the dryer to packing. They keep product flowing at a steady rate, reduce manual handling and give staff a place to inspect product. KRONEN conveyors are designed to match its cutting, washing and drying machines. Proquip Solutions is the authorised New Zealand distributor for KRONEN.

What is an inclined conveyor and when do I need one?

An inclined conveyor lifts product from floor level up to the next machine, such as into a cutter hopper, washer or packing machine. It's needed whenever the next machine's infeed sits higher than the one before it. Belts usually have cleats or a textured surface so product doesn't slide back. The KRONEN ECO Inclined Conveyor Belt is built for this job. See the KRONEN ECO Inclined Conveyor Belt.

What is a water bunker belt?

A water bunker belt holds product in water and feeds it out steadily on a belt. The water cushions delicate products such as leafy greens and cut vegetables, reducing bruising, and the bunker acts as a buffer so the next machine receives an even flow instead of surges. It's commonly used at the start of a washing line. See the KRONEN Water Bunker Belt.

What makes a conveyor hygienic and food grade?

A hygienic food conveyor has a stainless steel frame, a food-grade belt, smooth surfaces with few gaps where product or water can collect, and an open design that's easy to clean. Belts that can be removed or loosened without tools make daily cleaning faster. These features matter for fresh-cut produce, where hygiene audits are strict and conveyors are washed down every day.

How do I connect machines into one continuous processing line?

Each conveyor needs to match the capacity of the machines it links, so product doesn't pile up or run short. Transfer points should be short and gentle to avoid damage, and conveyor speeds should be adjustable to balance the line. Planning the whole line together, including floor space, heights and cleaning access, avoids bottlenecks later. Proquip Solutions designs, supplies and installs complete processing lines across New Zealand.

Can conveyors be added to my existing processing line?

Yes. Adding conveyors is one of the quickest ways to cut manual handling, such as staff carrying crates between machines, and to keep product moving at a steady rate. Conveyors can be sized and positioned to fit around your existing machines, whether they're KRONEN or another brand. Tell us your current layout and we'll recommend what fits.
