Bag Automation Bagging Machine FAQs

How does an automatic bagging machine work?

An automatic bagging machine takes empty premade bags from a magazine, opens each one, fills it with an accurately weighed amount of product, then closes it and sends it on for palletising, with an operator only refilling the bag magazine. This removes most of the manual handling from bagging. Proquip Solutions is the New Zealand distributor for Bag Automation automatic bagging machines for open mouth premade bags. What is a high-speed semi-automatic bagging machine?

A semi-automatic bagging machine has an operator place each empty bag on the filling spout, while the machine weighs, fills and releases it. High-speed models increase output with faster weighing and filling, giving many of the benefits of automation at a lower cost and with a smaller footprint. Bag Automation's BSA-HS series is a high-speed semi-automatic bagger for open mouth premade bags. See the semi-automatic range.

How do bagging machines weigh product accurately?

Most bagging machines use a weighing scale to measure each dose before or during filling. Net weighing measures the product in a weigh hopper before it drops into the bag, which suits free-flowing products and high accuracy. Gross weighing measures the product in the bag itself, which suits products that don't flow freely. Accurate weighing reduces product giveaway, which often pays for the machine over time.

What products and industries use Bag Automation machines?

Bag Automation machines fill free-flowing products such as grains, seeds, rice, sugar, flour, animal feed, pet food, fertiliser, plastic pellets, chemicals and building materials. They are used by food manufacturers, feed mills, pet food producers, horticulture and agricultural businesses, and chemical and industrial manufacturers.

When should I move from manual to automatic bagging?

It's usually time to automate when bagging is holding back your output, when staff are spending long shifts lifting and handling heavy bags, or when inconsistent fill weights are costing you product. Moving from hand filling to a semi-automatic bagger is often the first step, with fully automatic bagging making sense once volumes are high enough to justify it. Our team can help you work out the right point for your business.
