The best way to describe the service is with an example; In 2022, Fonterra closed their ethanol plant at Edgecumbe. Proquip was asked to come in and manage the removal and disposal of the plant, it was an ideal opportunity for CARS
At Edgecumbe, Proquip achieved a 98% recycling rate.
Over 1,600 tonnes of material were recovered. Key processing assets were repurposed for potential New Zealand-based biofuel projects—supporting the renewable energy sector (aka Industry Collaboration).
21 tonnes of processing equipment, such as valves, pipework, and cables, were recycled, with funds generated being reinvested back into Fonterra’s operations (aka Value Creation)
Concrete was separated from steel, crushed, and reused – some to level the site, with the remainder was provided to local Fonterra famers for improving farm tracks (aka Carbon Reduction)
The remaining 2% of the materials were treated timber, insulation and polystyrene – materials with no current recycling pathway in New Zealand.
