Myers Vacuum, Inc. Macro-36 centrifugal molecular (short-path) still, a high-vacuum thermal separation system designed for gentle, low-temperature distillation of heat-sensitive materials. The process feeds liquid onto a heated, rotating disk inside an evacuated chamber; centrifugal force spreads the material into a thin film (approximately 0.010–0.100 in. thick) that thins further as it travels outward, exponentially increasing surface area for evaporation.
Volatile fractions flash off under deep vacuum and condense on an internal water-cooled condenser, while the heavier residue is thrown off the rotor edge into a collection gutter. Rated throughput for this model is 100–400 lb/hr, feedstock-dependent. Typical applications include cannabinoid/hemp distillate refinement, essential oil and flavor/fragrance stripping, deodorization, ester distillation, and removal of color bodies, odor fractions, and residual catalysts from heat-sensitive organics.
